Alton, Iowa — A Granville woman was taken to the hospital after what appears to be an unusual accident in Alton on Saturday.
The Orange City/Alton Police Department reports that at about 4:30 p.m., 30-year-old Isidro Topete Topete of Alton was driving a 2022 GMC Sierra northbound on 3rd Avenue in Alton.
The report says that the vehicle was stopped, and 32-year-old Miriam Castaneda had exited the vehicle. But apparently when she shut the door, something got stuck in the door. The officer says that as Topete Topete drove off, Castaneda was drug alongside of the vehicle for a short distance before she was somehow freed and dropped to the road. Castaneda told the officer that she didn’t believe Topete Topete knew that she had gotten stuck in the door or that any of this had happened.
The Alton Ambulance took Castaneda to the Orange City Health System hospital.
