Rock Valley, Iowa — A Boyden teen is dead as a result of a single-vehicle crash in Rock Valley in the wee hours of Sunday morning.
According to Rock Valley Police Chief Monte Warburton, officers from his department were dispatched to a single-vehicle accident at the intersection of Fairway Drive and Golf Course Road in Rock Valley. Warburton says officers arriving on the scene determined that a 2015 Subaru failed to negotiate a turn at that intersection and left the roadway striking a tree and a private residence.
As a result of the accident, 18-year-old Walter Lee Wynia of Boyden, was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to the Chief. A juvenile passenger also had minor injuries. Damage from the accident is estimated at $50,000. The accident is still under investigation by authorities at this time.
The Rock Valley Police Department was assisted by the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, the Rock Valley Fire Department, and the Rock Valley Ambulance.
