Brandon Man Airlifted After Sioux Center Motorcycle Crash

Sioux Center, Iowa — A Brandon, South Dakota man was airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital following a motorcycle crash south of Sioux Center Friday evening around 8:15.

Sioux County authorities say 54-year old Arthur DeRaad, Jr. was driving a 1987 Honda VF700C motorcycle eastbound on Highway 10. Deputies say DeRaad stopped for the stop sign at the Highway 75 intersection, and lost control of his bike, and was ejected from it, while attempting to make a left turn and go northbound on Highway 75.

According to authorities, DeRaad was taken to the Sioux Center Hospital by Sioux Center Ambulance, and later airlifted to Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls for further treatment of his injuries.

Sioux County deputies were assisted by the Maurice First Responders, Maurice Fire & Rescue, Sioux Center Ambulance, and Sioux Center Police Department.

Authorities say the crash remains under investigation.
