Clay County, Iowa — A burn ban for Clay County is in effect.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office said in a release that the state fire marshal received a request on Thursday to prohibit open burning in Clay County, Iowa.
The state fire marshal said that open burning could be a danger due to dry conditions.
Open burning is prohibited in Clay County until conditions that are considered, according to the fire marshal, dangerous to life and property are gone.
Violating the burn ban order is a simple misdemeanor.
