Sibley Motorcyclist Jailed After Leading Officers On Chase Through Two Counties

Sibley, Iowa — A 20-year-old Sibley man is accused of leading law enforcement on a high speed chase through two northwest Iowa counties this past Monday.

According to Osceola County authorities, the pursuit began near George when a Lyon County deputy attempted to pull over a 2008 Kawasaki motorcycle, driven by Trevor Lee Ferguson of Sibley. Authorities say the pursuit reached speeds in excess of 100 mph.

The pursuit entered Osceola County, and ended when Ferguson is said to have lost control of the motorcycle and crashed near the intersection of 2nd Avenue and 5th Street in Sibley. Officials say Ferguson fled the crash scene on foot, but was located a short time later at his residence in Sibley.

Deputies say Ferguson was booked into the Osceola County Jail after allegedly failing field sobriety tests, and held on a $6,000 bond.

In addition to the 1st Offense OWI charge, Ferguson reportedly faces a charge of Felony Eluding, and was issued citations for Failure To Have A Driver’s License and No Insurance.

The Lyon and Osceola County Sheriff’s Offices were assisted by the Iowa State Patrol and the Sibley Ambulance.
