(KIWA Staff Photo)Sheldon, Iowa — A Wisconsin woman has been arrested on a felony theft charge in Sheldon.
A criminal complaint filed by the Iowa State Patrol in District Court accuses 40-year-old Courtney Hyttinen of Trempealeau, Wisconsin, of driving a stolen vehicle. She was arrested on Wednesday.
In his statement, the trooper says he witnessed Hyttinen driving a stolen 2002 Buick Century. He says the car had been reported stolen the day before out of Windom, Minnesota. In addition, he alleges she was speeding at 78 miles per hour in a 65 zone.
Hyttinen was charged with second-degree theft, a class D felony. If convicted, she could face up to five years in prison. She also faces misdemeanor charges of driving without owner’s consent and speeding.
A preliminary hearing in the case has been set for September 4th.
At last report, she remained in the O’Brien County Jail in Primghar in lieu of bond.
