Beloit, Iowa — A Canton teen was taken to a hospital after a rollover accident in far-western Lyon County on Saturday morning.
According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, about 7:15 a.m., 17-year-old Joseph Heikkila of Canton, SD was driving south of Beloit on A54 when he lost control on the slushy roads and his vehicle entered the east ditch and rolled multiple times, coming to rest in a field.
The Sheriff’s Office says the Canton-Inwood Ambulance Squad took Heikkila to the Canton-Inwood hospital so he could be treated for the injuries he received.
Heikkila was cited on a charge of Failure to Maintain Control.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office says the Canton Fire Department and the Iowa State Patrol also assisted at the scene.
