Hospers, Iowa — A Boyden man’s vehicle was damaged and a Sheldon woman’s vehicle was damaged in an accident near Hospers on Friday, September 25th.
The Iowa State Patrol reports that at about 9:34 am on Friday, 72-year-old James Kray of Boyden was driving a 2007 Freightliner Semi tractor pulling a trailer, and stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of Hospers Driver S and Highway 60, and waiting to turn onto Highway 60. Thirty-one-year-old Crystallyn Sterler of Sheldon was driving a 2009 Ford Explorer southbound on Highway 60 in the right lane.
According to the report, another vehicle was also traveling southbound on Highway 60 in the right hand lane in front of Kray, who stated that he looked left and did not see any approaching vehicles. He turned right and began to travel southbound on 60. Kray stated that he was fully loaded and knew that he would take a little time to get
up to speed so he turned his four-way flashers on. The other vehicle observed the Freightliner enter Highway 60 and changed lanes to avoid colliding with the Semi. Sterler said she was attempting to locate cigarettes in her vehicle and did not see the Freightliner enter Highway 60 collided with the rear of the Semi.
No injuries were reported.
The Freightliner received $8,000 damage; the Ford received $10,000 damage.
