Sioux Center, Iowa — One person from Sioux Center and one from Luverne, Minnesota were taken to a hospital after a crash west of Sioux Center on Tuesday, September 17.
According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, at about 10:35 a.m., 47-year-old Scott Knorr of Luverne, MN was driving a 2023 Ram 1500 southbound on Garfield Avenue, two miles west of Sioux Center. They tell us 53-year-old Shelia De Jong of Sioux Center was driving a 2016 GMC Yukon XL westbound on 390th Street. Knorr entered the intersection and the vehicles collided.
The Sioux Center Ambulance Squad took De Jong and Knorr to Sioux Center Health.
Damage to the Knorr Ram was estimated at $25,000. Damage to the De Jong GMC was estimated at $28,000.
Knorr was cited on a charge of failure to obey a stop sign and/or yield right of way.
The sheriff’s office says the Sioux Center Police Department, Sioux Center Fire Department, and Sioux Center Ambulance assisted with the response to the accident.
