Rock Rapids, Iowa — An Ellsworth, Minnesota man was taken to a hospital after an accident east of Rock Rapids on Tuesday, December 17th, 2024.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that just after 5:30 p.m., Conrad Beauvais of Ellsworth was eastbound on Highway 9 in a 1999 GMC Jimmy about four miles east of Rock Rapids, when he apparently lost control and the vehicle entered the south ditch.
The Jimmy then overturned and came to rest on its roof in the adjacent field.
Beauvais was extricated by mechanical means and was transported to Avera Rock Rapids.
Beauvais was cited on charges of Failure to Maintain Control and No Valid Driver’s License. Also, a passenger and the owner of the vehicle, Alexander Owen of Ellsworth, was cited for No Insurance-Accident and Defective Tires. Owen was not injured.
The sheriff’s office tells us the Lyon County Ambulance Squad, Rock Rapids Fire Department, and The Tow Co. assisted with the response to the accident.
