Fire At Grand Falls Turns Out To Be Grass, Fireworks Debris

Larchwood, Iowa — It would have been a much more serious outcome had they been LIVE fireworks instead of spent fireworks debris — that from Larchwood Fire Chief Tony DeSmet about a fire on the grounds of Grand Falls Casino and Golf Resort on Saturday night.

DeSmet reports that Larchwood firefighters were called to Grand Falls about 10:20 p.m. on Saturday night, for what was called a “fireworks fire.”

As it turned out, according to DeSmet, what was burning was some fireworks debris and some nearby grass. He tells us firefighters made quick work of the fire by dousing it with some water and making sure they had hit all the hot spots.

No injuries were reported, and DeSmet says firefighters were there for about a half an hour.
