Archer, Iowa — A car was damaged in a fire on Saturday, July 11, 2020, near Archer.
According to Archer Fire Chief Don De Boer, about 3:30 p.m., the Archer Fire Department was called to the report of a vehicle fire at 4129 Olive Avenue, four miles south and a mile west of Archer.
The chief says the fire department saw a car that was about half destroyed, but the owner had the fire out by the time they arrived. He says the owner had used a garden hose to fight the fire. Luckily, the car was not in a garage, says De Boer.
De Boer says no injuries were reported.
He says the Primghar Fire Department was initially paged too, but they called on the radio and told them they could disregard when the Archer firefighters arrived on-scene.
He says the cause of the fire appeared to be electrical in nature.
Chief De Boer reports that the car, which De Boer says was in the neighborhood of 10 years old, was about half destroyed in the blaze.
He says the firefighters who responded were on the scene for about 15 minutes.
