Sheldon, Iowa — A grove of trees was burned in a fire on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, near Sheldon.
According to Sheldon Fire Chief Brad Hindt, at around 7:15 p.m., the Sheldon Fire Company was dispatched to a fire involving a grove of trees about two miles west and a mile and a half south of Rosenboom Machine & Tool in Sheldon, at 3471 Log Avenue.
Fire Chief Brad Hindt stated that upon arrival, firefighters found part of the grove and a nearby ditch on fire. They extinguished the flames with water, even having to cut down some burning trees. The fire, which is thought to have originated from a burning pit and was spread by wind, caused damage only to trees. The Hospers Fire Department assisted at the scene, which firefighters cleared after about two and a half hours.
Hindt says no injuries were reported.
