Ellsworth, Minnesota — A garage and its contents were destroyed in a fire on Friday, February 6, 2026, near Ellsworth, Minnesota.
According to Ellsworth Fire Chief Terry De Beer, at about 1:10 p.m., the Ellsworth Fire Department was called to the report of a fully engulfed garage at 1824 41st Street, about a mile north and two west of Ellsworth, or about eight miles northeast of Rock Rapids.
When they got there, the chief says the fire department saw the single-stall garage fully engulfed. He says they used water in an exterior attack to fight the fire.
De Beer says six chickens were lost in the blaze, but there were no injuries to people or other animals.
He says the cause of the fire appeared to be an electric heater in a water bowl, or something else electrical in nature.
Chief De Beer reports that the garage and its contents were totaled in the blaze.
He says the firefighters who responded were on the scene for between an hour and a half and two hours.
