Fire Destroys Rural Rock Valley Home

Rock Valley, Iowa — A house was destroyed in a fire on Thursday, October 28, 2021, near Rock Valley.

According to Rock Valley Fire Chief Brent Eshuis, about 9:40 p.m., the Rock Valley Fire Department was called to the report of a house on fire at 2095 320th Street, four miles west and a mile south of Rock Valley.

The chief says the roof of the older ranch-style home was on fire.

He says the State Fire Marshal’s office was on the scene. And while they know the fire started in the attic, the official cause is undetermined.

Eshuis says no injuries were reported.

The fire department was assisted by the Hull, Inwood, and Sioux Center, Iowa, and Hudson, South Dakota fire departments.

Chief Eshuis reports that since the roof was burned off and they had to tear down all the ceilings to get at the fire, the house was totaled in the blaze.

He says the firefighters who responded were on the scene for over two hours.
