FIrefighters Have Busy Sunday In Paullina

Paullina, Iowa — Firefighters were kept busy in Paullina Sunday, responding to a pair of fires within just a few hours.

Paullina Fire Chief Brent Noteboom says his crew was called to a garage fire in Paullina around 5:00 Sunday evening. Noteboom says the structure was fully engulfed by the time fire crews arrived on scene. The Granville Fire Department was called for mutual aid in battling the blaze, which completely destroyed the garage. No injuries were reported.

Then around 7:45 Sunday evening, the Paullina Fire Department was dispatched to a fire in a resident’s workshop. Noteboom says that fire was fed by tires that were stored in the structure. Fire Departments from Primghar and Granville were called to provide assistance to the Paullina firefighters, since, according to Noteboom, his crews needed additional manpower with air packs to help battle that conflagration. Noteboom termed the building involved in the second fire as a complete loss, as well. No injuries were reported.
