Five Taken To Hospital After Two Accidents In Hawarden

Hawarden, Iowa — Two people were taken to the hospital after an accident in Hawarden recently.

The Hawarden Police Department reports that about 8:00 a.m. on Friday, August 28, 2020, 16-year-old Dayana Bueso-Ocampo of Hawarden was driving a 2012 Chevy northbound on Central Avenue in Hawarden. Forty-one-year-old April Hovanec of Hawarden was eastbound in a 2014 Nissan.

The report says that it was a four-way stop intersection, and Bueso-Ocampo’s vehicle struck Hovanec’s vehicle on the passenger side.

The Hawarden Ambulance took Hovanec and a passenger to Hawarden Regional Healthcare Hospital.

According to the report, the vehicles sustained about $2000 in damage, each.

Hawarden, Iowa — Later that same day, three people were taken to the hospital after another accident in Hawarden.

The Hawarden Police Department reports that about 11:30 a.m., 47-year-old Michelle Reisma of Sioux Center was driving a 2003 GMC Yukon westbound on Highway 10 West, in Hawarden
Fifty-eight-year-old Timothy Hansman of Hudson was northbound on Highway 10 North in a 2012 Chevy pickup.

The report says that Reisma failed to obey the stop sign and struck the Hansman vehicle.

The Hawarden Ambulance took Reisma and two passengers to Hawarden Regional Healthcare Hospital.

Both vehicles are reported to have sustained $5000 in damages, each.
