UPDATE – Second Field Vandalized – Information Sought In Cornfield Vandalism

Sioux County, Iowa — The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office now has two cases of vandalism to cornfields that they are investigating.

According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, the first case was reported at midday Monday and occurred in a cornfield adjacent to Indian Avenue, four and one-half miles northwest of Orange City. Deputies say the second case was reported early Tuesday afternoon, this time in a field adjacent to 410th Street, three and one-half miles north of Alton.

Authorities say that in both incidents someone entered the cornfields through a field driveway, drove a vehicle approximately 300 feet into the fields, then re-traced their path and exited the fields.

Damage to the corn crops is estimated at about $750.

Orange City, Iowa — Sioux County Sheriff Deputies are investigating a report of vandalism in a corn field just outside of Orange City.

According to the sheriff’s office, the reported vandalism that occurred is in a cornfield on Indian Avenue, four and one-half miles northwest of Orange City.

Upon further investigation, deputies believe someone entered a cornfield through a field driveway, drove a vehicle approximately 300 feet into the field, turned around, re-traced their path and exited the field. The vehicle drove southbound on Indian Avenue after leaving the field driveway.

The vehicle caused approximately $250 in crop damage.
