Inwood, Iowa — A garage and its contents were destroyed in a fire on Friday, March 28, 2025, in Inwood.
According to Inwood Fire Chief Troy Van Beek, at about 2:40 p.m., the Inwood Fire Department was called to the report of a barn fire at 339 Jefferson Street in Inwood.
The chief says the fire department saw the smaller garage fully engulfed as they approached the scene. He says they used an exterior attack to fight the fire.
Van Beek says no injuries were reported.
The Larchwood Fire Department provided mutual aid assistance.
He says the cause of the fire appeared to be a burning pit going out of control.
Chief Van Beek reports that the garage and its contents of miscellaneous items in storage were totaled in the blaze. He says two nearby buildings had just caught on fire when they arrived, so they sustained minor damage.
He says the firefighters who responded were on the scene for about an hour and a half.
