Lester, Iowa — A George man was taken to the hospital after a crash near Lester on Friday, July 14, 2017.
The Iowa State Patrol reports that about 4:20 p.m., 33-year-old Jesse Mohr of George was driving a 2008 Dodge eastbound on Highway 9, three miles west of Lester. They report that 39-year-old Chad Reil of Sioux Falls was westbound on 9 in a 2014 Freightliner semi.
The report says that Mohr swerved over the center line and intentionally hit the semi. According to the Iowa State Patrol, Mohr stated he was trying to commit suicide.
The Lyon County Ambulance took Mohr to Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Reil did not report any injury.
Mohr’s Dodge sustained $10,000 in damages, which was enough to total the car, and the Reil Freightliner sustained $8,000 in damages.
Mohr was charged with failure to maintain control.
