George, Iowa — One person was taken to the hospital after an accident near George on Friday, September 20, 2024.
The Iowa State Patrol reports that at about 8:00 p.m. , 65-year-old Robert Gentry of George was driving a 2022 Jeep eastbound on A34, near Ironwood Avenue, about four miles east of George.
The report says that the vehicle left the roadway to the right, hit the ditch and went across Ironwood Avenue, entered the ditch again and then hit two metal fence poles before coming to rest in a field.
The Lyon County Ambulance took a passenger, 72-year-old Karen Meyer of George to Avera Merrill Pioneer Hospital in Rock Rapids. Another passenger, 70-year-old Juliene Gentry of George, reportedly had minor injuries, but was not transported.
Gentry’s Jeep sustained $15,000 in damages.
He was charged with failure to maintain control.
