Hartley, Iowa– A home was damaged in a fire on Thursday, March 14, 2019, in Hartley.
According to Assistant Hartley Fire Chief Jason VanderBerg, in the 6 p.m. hour, the Hartley Fire Department was called to the report of a house fire in the 400 Block of First Street Northwest in Hartley.
The assistant chief says the fire department saw flames coming from a second-story window as they approached the scene. He says they used an exterior attack, then mounted an interior attack to fight the fire.
Assistant Chief VanderBerg says no one was living in the home at the time, and no injuries were reported.
He says the cause of the fire is under investigation but is believed to have been electrical in nature.
Assistant Chief VanderBerg reports that there was moderate damage, and that it was limited to one room on the second floor.
He says about 17 firefighters responded to the call and were on scene for about an hour.
