Hartley, Iowa– A Hartley teen has died as the result of an accident near Hartley on Wednesday, March 20, 2024.
The Iowa State Patrol reports that they investigated the accident at about 8:30 a.m. They say that a 16-year-old juvenile male from Hartley was driving a 2000 Honda Accord eastbound on 300th Street, near Vine Avenue.
The trooper’s report says that the teen had been eastbound on 300th Street, two miles north of Hartley, when the Honda apparently left the roadway and struck a creek embankment. The trooper says the driver had not been restrained and suffered a fatal injury.
The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office, the Department of Natural Resources, and Hartley Ambulance personnel assisted at the scene.
