Sioux Falls Man Faces Felony Charge After Sibley Incident

Sibley, Iowa– A Sioux Falls man has been arrested on felony criminal mischief and burglary charges after an incident in Sibley.

According to a criminal complaint filed with the Osceola County Clerk of Court’s Office by the county sheriff’s office, 19-year-old Corbit Heron of Sioux Falls (or his accomplice) is/are accused of breaking into a vehicle by smashing a window and stealing a wallet.

In his statement, the deputy says Heron or his accomplice smashed out the passenger side window of the victim’s truck causing over $1,500 worth of damage to the vehicle. Heron and/or his accomplice is accused of entering the victim’s truck and taking the victim’s wallet, which is said to have contained about $80 in cash and
a number of credit cards. The value of the wallet and its contents was estimated at less than $300. Later that same day, according to the deputy’s statement, Heron and his accomplice were recorded at a Walmart in Sioux Falls, SD attempting to use the victims credit cards.

Heron was charged with second-degree criminal mischief, a class D felony. If convicted, Heron could face up to five years in prison. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of third degree burglary.

He faces a preliminary hearing on Tuesday, March 26th.

At last report, Heron remained in the Osceola County Jail in Sibley in lieu of a $12,000 cash or surety bond.
