Former G-LR Mustang Earns GPAC Runner of the Week Honor

Former George-Little Rock track and field standout Payton Mauldin was named the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Runner of the Week as announced by the league office early Wednesday.

Mauldin, who runs for Dordt University, he claims the weekly honor for the third time during the six-week, outdoor season. The senior also earned the honor three times for the indoor season. 

Notes:

  • Mauldin won a pair of Drake Relays titles with a couple of record-setting performances 
  • won the 400m with a personal-best and school record time of 46.38, currently the No.1 time in the NAIA
  • anchored the Defenders winning 4×400 relay with a 45.2 split and a total time of 3:09.43
    • the Defenders time is a school record, ranks first in the NAIA and is 11th-fastest all-time in the NAIA
  • earlier in the week, Mauldin finished third in the 100m at the Mount Marty Invite with the No.2 time in Dordt history
  • Mauldin has qualified for nationals in three events;
    • 400m – No.1 in NAIA
    • 800m – No.3 in NAIA
    • 4×400 – No.1 in NAIA
