Hawarden, Iowa — A Hawarden 18-year-old was taken to a hospital after an accident on Tuesday, April 21st.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 5:15 p.m., 18-year-old Nicholas Pencook of Hawarden was driving a 2001 Buick Century southbound on Buchanan Avenue, a half of a mile north of Hawarden when he lost control of the vehicle, which entered the east ditch and rolled.
The Hawarden Ambulance took Pencook to the Hawarden Hospital. His injuries were described as “minor.”
The report says the Buick sustained about $10,000 in damage.
Pencook was cited on a charge of failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle.
The sheriff’s office reports that the Hawarden Ambulance Squad, the Hawarden Fire Department, and the Hawarden Police Department assisted them with the response to the accident.
