Le Mars, Iowa — A Hawarden woman was among those injured in an accident between Le Mars and Akron on Tuesday, October 10, 2017.
The Iowa State Patrol reports that about 6:40 a.m., 59-year-old Teresa Nelson of Hawarden was driving a 2016 Kia westbound on Highway 3, nine miles west of Le Mars. They report that 58-year-old Randall Kruid of Sioux City was southbound on K22 in a 2003 Kenworth semi.
The report says that Nelson’s Kia failed to stop at the stop sign. It says the vehicles collided and entered the westbound ditch.
The Akron Ambulance took both drivers to Mercy Hospital. At last report, Nelson was in critical condition, according to the report. It says Kruid was last listed in serious but stable condition.
The investigation continues.
