Hawarden Woman Taken To Hospital After Monday Morning Crash

Ireton, Iowa — A Hawarden woman was taken to a hospital after a crash near Ireton on Monday, February 9th, 2026.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 6:10 a.m., 29-year-old Meyling Del Carmen Perez of Hawarden was driving a 2004 Pontiac Vibe northbound on Eagle Avenue, three miles north of Ireton, when she struck a raccoon in the roadway. Her car entered the west ditch and rolled.

The Ireton Ambulance took Del Carmen Perez to the Sioux Center Health hospital. Her injuries were termed “non-life-threatening.”

The Pontiac sustained approximately $3,000 in damage.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office says the Ireton Fire Department and Ireton Rescue assisted with the response to the crash.
