Hospers Man To Hospital After Monday Morning Crash

Hospers, Iowa — A Hospers man was taken to the hospital Monday morning following a collision in downtown Hospers.

Sioux County authorities say 74-year-old Howard Poppema, of Hospers, was eastbound on Main Street in Hospers about 7:15 Monday morning in a 2011 Ford F-150, when he experienced a medical issue, lost control of his pickup and struck two parked and unattended pickup trucks; a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado and a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado.

Deputies say Poppema was transported by the Hospers Ambulance to Orange City Area Health.

Authorities estimate damage to Poppema’s F-150 at $4,000, with damage to the 2016 Silverado at $5,000 and damage to the 2015 Silverado at $600.

Sioux County Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Hospers Fire Department, Hospers Ambulance and Orange City Ambulance.
