Hull Woman Rolls Car Near Hospers, Airlifted To Sioux Falls Hospital

Hospers, Iowa– A Hull woman was taken to the hospital after an accident near Hospers on Saturday, October 15, 2022.

The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 9:50 a.m., 21-year-old Jewell Flores of Hull was driving a 2004 Honda westbound on 400th Street, three miles east of Hospers, which is a mile into O’Brien County.

The report says that Flores was following her ex-boyfriend. According to witnesses, and confirmed by a cell phone video taken by one of the witnesses, Flores was driving at high rates of speed, and upon getting close behind her ex-boyfriend, suddenly, and with no obvious reason, she veered hard to the left (south) and entered the south ditch where the Honda rolled over four times according to witnesses.

The Hospers Ambulance took Flores to Sanford Sheldon Hospital. The deputy writing the report says she suffered severe injuries and was later taken by helicopter to Sanford Sioux Falls.

Flores’s Honda sustained $3500 in damages, which totaled the car.

The deputy says drugs and alcohol are suspected to be factors in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
