Sheldon Man Faces Felony Drug Charge

Sheldon, Iowa — A Sheldon man faces a felony drug charge after an arrest this past week.

According to a criminal complaint filed with the O’Brien County Clerk of Court by the Sheldon Police Department, 20-year-old Kyran Schuknecht faces a charge of possession of a controlled substance, third or subsequent offense, a class D felony.

The complaint states that a law enforcement officer saw Schuknecht walking along the street. The officer was aware that there was a valid arrest warrant out of Lyon County for Schuknecht, who was then arrested and subsequently searched. The officer says that during the search, they found a glass jar that contained a white crystalline substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine.

Schuknecht was taken into custody and was booked into jail in Primghar, where at last report, he reminded.

He faces a preliminary hearing on the charges on Monday, October 24th. If convicted of a class D felony, Schuknecht could face up to five years in prison.

Unemployment rate drops in April

The April unemployment rate dropped to two-point-eight percent compared to two-point-nine percent in March. Iowa Workforce Development director, Beth Townsend, says
