Inwood Woman Faces Felony Charges In South Dakota After Arrest, Assault

Canton, South Dakota — An Inwood woman faces felony charges in South Dakota after she allegedly assaulted an officer and medical personnel there this past week.

According to the Lincoln County South Dakota Sheriff’s Office, their deputies were called to assist the Canton Police Department on a traffic stop involving a suspected drunk driver who was allegedly being disorderly and refusing to exit her vehicle.

The sheriff’s office says their deputies and canton Officers were eventually able to remove the driver from her vehicle and attempted to place her under arrest. The report says that during the arrest, the driver became combative and resisted. During the incident, she allegedly assaulted officers and Sanford Canton-Inwood EMS personnel multiple times.

The 35-year old female driver is identified only as being from Inwood. They say she was arrested by the Canton Police Department and was charged with three counts of simple assault against law enforcement, which is a class 6 felony in South Dakota.

She also faces four counts of simple assault, resisting arrest, obstructing law enforcement, driving under the influence (second offense), and lane driving.
