Ireton Man Faces Felony Assault Charge

Ireton, Iowa — An Ireton man has been arrested on felony assault charges after an incident in Ireton.

According to a criminal complaint filed with the Sioux County Clerk of Court’s Office by the Hawarden Police Department, 32-year-old Alex Watterson of Ireton is accused of assaulting another man near an Ireton home. He was arrested on Tuesday, November 28th.

In his statement, the officer says Watterson pulled the victim out of a car and pushed him against the car while the victim tried to get away. It says the victim sustained injuries to his face and neck.

Watterson was charged with Domestic Abuse Assault, third or subsequent offense, a class D felony. If convicted, Watterson could face up to five years in prison.

He faces a preliminary hearing on December 5th.
