Larchwood Teen Taken To Hospital After Accident South Of Ellsworth, MN

Lyon County Iowa, south of Ellsworth, Minnesota — A Larchwood teen was taken to the hospital after an accident in Iowa, south of Ellsworth, Minnesota on Sunday, March 24, 2024.

The Iowa State Patrol reports that at about 12:50 p.m., 16-year-old Landen Broesder of Larchwood was driving a 1995 Chevy pickup southbound on L14, seven miles east and about four miles north of Rock Rapids or about a mile and a half south of Ellsworth, Minnesota.

The report says that Broesder lost control after going through a slush pocket. His pickup left the roadway to the left, entered the east ditch, struck a tree, and rolled onto its side. The trooper says the pickup’s rear tires were “very worn.”

The Lyon County Ambulance took Broesder to Avera Merrill Pioneer Hospital.

Broesder’s Chevy pickup sustained $3000 in damages, which the trooper says probably totaled the truck.

Ellsworth, Minnesota Rescue assisted at the scene.
