Machine Shed Destroyed In Fire Near Granville

Granville, Iowa — A machine shed and its contents were destroyed in a fire on Sunday, March 1, 2026, near Granville.

According to Granville Fire Chief Karl Kellen, at about 4:00 p.m., the Granville Fire Department was called to the report of a shed fire at 4262 McKinley Avenue, a mile east and three and a quarter north of Granville.

When they got there, the chief says the fire department saw the 40’x60′ machine shed fully involved in fire. He says they used an external attack to fight the fire.

Kellen says no injuries were reported.

The fire department was assisted by firefighters from Sheldon, Hospers, and Paullina.

He says the cause of the fire is undetermined.

Chief Kellen reports that the damage included at least one tractor and some other equipment. It and the building were all totaled.

He says the firefighters who responded were on the scene for about three hours.
