O’Brien County, Iowa — A Sutherland man who had been charged with Drunk Driving in connection with an October, 2019 traffic crash that claimed the life of a Primghar man has entered a guilty plea and been sentenced in the case.

According to authorities, an SUV driven by Joshua Mahler of Sutherland collided broadside with a UTV driven by 61-year-old Jerome Schuller of Primghar. Schuller, along with his 6 and 8-year-old grandsons were taken to Sanford Sheldon Medical Center for treatment, where Schuller succumbed to his injuries.

In May of last year, charges including OWI, were filed against Mahler in connection with the crash.
