Man Charged With Burglary In Connection With Rural Larchwood Case

Larchwood, Iowa — A Sioux Falls man has been arrested on burglary charges after an incident near Larchwood.

According to a criminal complaint filed with the Lyon County Clerk of Court’s Office by the county sheriff’s office, 44-year-old Nathan Christie of Sioux Falls is accused of breaking into a home and stealing cash in June and/or July. He was arrested on Friday, July 7th.

In his statement, the deputy states that since June 3, 2023, Christie has allegedly entered a rural Larchwood home on at least two occasions, stealing cash. The deputy says Christie allegedly admitted to entering the home while the inhabitants were absent, stealing $300 in cash. According to the deputy, Christie has allegedly stolen at least $860 cash from the residents in the household since June 3, 2023 by entering the residence without the knowledge or permission of the homeowner.

Christie was charged with third-degree burglary, a class D felony. If convicted, Christie could face up to five years in prison.

He faces a preliminary hearing on Tuesday, July 18.

He was released the same day he was arrested after posting a $5000 cash or surety bond.
