Man Injured In Semi Accident Near Hudson, SD

Rural Iowa near Hudson, SD — A Yankton, South Dakota man was taken to a hospital and the semi that he was driving sustained major damage in an accident on Monday afternoon, November 25th.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that shortly after 3:00 p.m., 65-year-old Bradley Smith of Yankton, SD was backing a 2014 International semi-truck pulling a trailer loaded with steel northbound on Chestnut Avenue, a mile east of Hudson, SD, when the tires on the trailer entered the east ditch. Smith lost control of the vehicle and the truck and trailer rolled onto its side.

The Hudson Ambulance took Smith to the Hawarden Hospital. His injuries were described as “minor.”

The truck and trailer sustained approximately $50,000 in damage.

Smith was cited on a charge of failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle.

The sheriff’s office says the Hudson Ambulance Squad and Hudson Fire Department assisted them with the response to the accident.
