Nebraska Man Arrested For OWI, Bribery

Sioux Center, Iowa — A South Sioux City, Nebraska man is accused of trying to bribe a Sioux Center Police Officer during a traffic stop late Saturday night.

Court documents indicate that a Sioux Center officer pulled over a vehicle on Highway 75 that, according to the officer, was having trouble maintaining its lane of travel.

After stopping the vehicle, the officer says he smelled alcohol on the breath of the driver, who authorities identify as 29-year-old Abraham Morales Morales, of South Sioux City. Morales Morales also reportedly had slurred speech and impaired balance, according to the officer, and refused to submit to Field Sobriety Tests. The officer says Morales Morales also offered to give him a $100 bill, in exchange for letting him go.

Morales Morales was placed under arrest and transported to the Sioux County Jail, charged with: Bribery, a Class D Felony; as well as misdemeanor charges of 1st Offense OWI, Driving Without a Valid Driver’s License, and Improper Use of Lanes.
