No Injuries In School Bus vs SUV Crash Tuesday Morning In Hull

Hull, Iowa — A Hull man sustained minor injuries Tuesday morning when the school bus he was driving collided with an SUV in Hull.

According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, shortly after 7:00 Tuesday morning, they investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of Birch Street and 2nd Street, in Hull.

Deputies say the mishap occurred when a 2005 Dodge Durango, driven by 38-year-old Bradley Kats of Hull, was southbound on Birch Street and allegedly failed to obey a yield sign at the 2nd Street intersection. Kats’ SUV entered the intersection and collided with a westbound 2020 International school bus, driven by 66-year-old Calvin Klarenbeek of Hull.

Klarenbeek reported minor injuries and declined further medical attention; no injuries were reported by Kats or any student-passengers in the bus, according to authorities.

The Dodge sustained approximately $5,000 in damage. The international sustained an estimated $7,500 in damage.

Deputies say Kats was cited for failing to obey a yield sign.
