Allendorf, Iowa– An Ocheyedan woman was taken to the hospital after an accident near Allendorf on Friday, October 7, 2022.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 1:25 p.m., 77-year-old Yvonne Bales of Ocheyedan was driving a 2007 Ford westbound on Highway 9, two miles north and five east of Sibley. They tell us that a truck driver was also westbound on 9 in a 2021 Freightliner semi.
The report says that Bales was entering a construction zone and failed to realize that the semi was legally stopped and waiting in line for a pilot car in the construction zone. It says she struck the bumper bar of the semi’s trailer.
The Sibley Ambulance took Bales to Osceola Regional Health Center Hospital. The truck driver was not injured.
Bales’ Ford sustained $2500 in damages. The report noted major front-end damage. It also stated that the trailer received only minor scratches.
