Hull Woman Involved In Accident That Sent Spencer Teen To Hospital

Spencer, Iowa– A Hull woman was involved in an accident that sent a Spencer teen to the hospital. It happened near Spencer on Thursday, October 6, 2022.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 6:55 a.m., 37-year-old Rebecca Worshek of Hull was driving a 2019 Dodge southbound on 240th Avenue, about a mile east of the south side of Spencer. They tell us that a 17-year-old juvenile from Spencer was northbound on 240th in a 2005 Nissan.

The report says that the teen failed to see the Worshek vehicle driving southbound. The juvenile attempted to turn west onto 350th Street, entering the southbound lane which caused Worshek to t-bone the juvenile’s vehicle. It says the juvenile’s vehicle was pushed into a field on the southwest corner of the intersection, subsequently knocking down a lighted stop sign.

The Spencer Ambulance took the teen to Spencer Municipal Hospital. Worshek reported pain but no injuries.

Both vehicles were considered totaled. Worshek’s Dodge sustained $20,000 in damages, and the Nissan sustained $8,000 in damages.

Damage to the lighted stop sign is estimated at $2,500. The sheriff’s office says a citation for Failure to Yield Upon Left Turn will be issued to the teen.

They report that the Spencer Police Department, Dickens Fire Department, Spencer Fire Department, Spencer Hospital Ambulance Service, and Clay County Secondary Roads Department assisted with the response to the accident.
