One From Sheldon, One From Sioux City Taken To Hospitals After Newkirk Accident

Newkirk, Iowa — One person from Sheldon and one from Sioux City were taken to hospitals after an accident on Monday, October 21 in Newkirk.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 2:40 p.m., 62-year-old Debra Stockman of Sioux City was driving a 2011 Honda Odyssey minivan southbound on Kingbird Avenue in Newkirk, which is three miles west of Hospers. They tell us 19-year-old Olivia Lopez of Sheldon was driving a 2014 Ford Explorer westbound on 400th Street. The two entered and collided in the intersection.

The accident report says the Hospers Ambulance took Stockman to Orange City Area Health. The Orange City Ambulance took Lopez to Sanford Sheldon Medical Center.

Damage to the Honda was estimated at $15,000. Damage to the Ford was estimated at $8,000.

Lopez was cited on a charge of driving without a license.

The accident remains under investigation.
