One Transported To Hospital After Single-Vehicle Crash Near Hawarden

Hawarden, Iowa — One person was taken to the hospital after sustaining minor injuries in an accident near Hawarden on Friday, August 28th.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that shortly before 1:15 Friday morning, 54-year-old Randel Egnes was southbound on Cherry Avenue in a 2014 GMC Acadia, when he entered a curve in the roadway, lost control of the vehicle, entered the south ditch and rolled.

Authorities say Egnes was transported by the Hawarden Ambulance to Hawarden Regional Healthcare for treatment of minor injuries.

Deputies estimate damage to Egnes’ vehicle at approximately $15,000.

He was reportedly was cited for failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle and failure to use a seatbelt.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Hawarden Police Department and Hawarden Ambulance.
