Orange City Man Gets Felony Charge For Christmas

Sioux Center, Iowa — The report of an erratic driver led to the felony arrest of an Orange City man shortly after midnight Christmas morning.

According to court records, during the midnight hour on Christmas morning, a Sioux County Deputy located a vehicle that had been the subject of an erratic driving report, stopped on the side of the roadway just south of Sioux Center.

Court records indicate that the vehicle was operated by 35-year-old Eulogio Lopez Lopez, of Orange City. Deputies say Lopez Lopez exhibited signs of alcohol impairment, but refused a field sobriety test and was arrested for 1st Offense OWI (Operating While Impaired).

Deputies say that at the time of the arrest, Lopez Lopez had his three small children in the backseat of his vehicle.

Once at the Sioux County Jail, Lopez Lopez reportedly refused to provide a breath sample.

He is charged with Neglect or Abandonment of a Dependent Person, which is a Class C Felony, along with 1st Offense OWI, which is a Serious Misdemeanor.

A Preliminary Hearing in the case has been set for January 4th in Sioux County Magistrate Court.
