Orange City Woman Injured In Early Wednesday Morning Crash

Orange City, Iowa — A two-vehicle crash in Orange City early Wednesday morning sent one woman to the hospital.

Orange City Police say the mishap occurred shortly after 5:00 Wednesday morning at the intersection of 11th Street Southeast and Albany Place Southeast in Orange City.

According to authorities, a 2020 Honda Civic, driven by 45-year-old Janelle Phinney, of Orange City, was westbound on 11th Street Southeast, and a 2012 Nissan Rogue, driven by 64-year-old Rita Vander Feen, of Orange City, was southbound on Albany Place Southeast. Police say Phinney pulled from the stop sign at the intersection and was struck by Vander Feen.

Vander Feen was reportedly transported to the Orange City Health System by Orange City Ambulance for treatment of injuries.

Damage to Phinney’s Honda was estimated at $6,000, with estimated damage to Vander Feen’s Nissan set at $9,000.

Orange City Police say Phinney was cited for failing to obey a stop sign and yield right-of-way.
