Orange City, Iowa– An Orange City woman was taken to a hospital after an accident in Orange City.
The Orange City Police Department reports that about 2:35 p.m. on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, 77-year-old Eleanor Van Grouw of Orange City was driving a 2007 Chevy eastbound on Second Street Northwest. They say 56-year-old Kenneth Oldenkamp of Alton was southbound on Central Avenue North in a 2009 Dodge pickup.
The report says that Van Grouw told the officer that she had stopped for the stop sign and looked south, but did not look north and pulled out in front of the Oldenkamp pickup.
The Orange City Ambulance took Van Grouw to Orange City Health System Hospital.
Van Grouw’s Chevy sustained $2500 in damages, and Oldenkamp’s Dodge pickup sustained $3000 in damages. A street light pole was also damaged in the accident. It was valued at $750.
Van Grouw was charged with failure to obey a stop sign.
