Pickup Damaged After Hitting Trailer

Sioux Center, Iowa — An Orange City man’s pickup was heavily damaged after hitting a semi trailer near Sioux Center on Wednesday, September 13th.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that just before noon on Wednesday, 36-year-old Brett Kooiker of Orange City was driving a 2004 Kenworth semi-tractor pulling a side-dump trailer eastbound on 420th Street, one mile south of Sioux Center. Fifty-four-year-old Kenton Witt of Orange City was driving a 2012 GMC Canyon eastbound on 420th Street, behind Kooiker. According to the report, Kooiker slowed before attempting a left turn onto Harrison
Avenue and Witt struck the rear of the trailer.

The trailer received $200 damage; the GMC received $22,000 damage.

No injuries were reported.
