Archer, Iowa — A Primghar teen was taken to the hospital after a single-vehicle crash southwest of Archer during the noon hour Saturday (August 31st).
According to a report from the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office, shortly after 12:30 Saturday afternoon a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix, driven by 16-year-old Arryn McClaren of Primghar, was westbound in the 5900 mile of 390th Street when, according to the deputy’s report, she passed another vehicle at a high rate of speed and hit the south shoulder, over-corrected and crossed the road and entered the north shoulder. According to the report, McClaren over-corrected, crossed the center line sideways, entered the north ditch sideways, and struck a round hay bale, sending the bale 88 feet into a corn field. Deputies say the car then rolled three times, coming to rest on its wheels.
McClaren was transported by the Sheldon Community Ambulance Team to the MercyOne Primghar Medical Center.
McClaren was ticketed for Failure to Reduce Speed to Reasonable and Proper rate, according to the accident report.
