Fire Damages Car At Hull Football Field

Hull, Iowa — A car was destroyed in a fire on Friday, August 30, 2019, in Hull.

According to Hull Fire Chief Greg Van Roekel, about 6:40 p.m., the Hull Fire Department was called to the report of a vehicle on fire at Hesla Field, the football field on Highway 18 in Hull.

The chief says the fire department saw flames from the engine compartment as they approached the scene.

Van Roekel says no injuries were reported.

He says the cause of the fire is undetermined.

Chief Van Roekel reports that the passenger car was probably totaled in the blaze.

He says the twelve firefighters who responded were on the scene for about twenty minutes.

A little more than an hour earlier, the Hull Fire Department had been called for a fire alarm at Western Christian High School, but Van Roekel says it was determined that someone had accidentally activated a pull station.
